A luxury alpine resort located in Switzerland’s Engadin Valley, St. Moritz is gifted with, on average, over 300 days of sunshine every year. St. Moritz is home to the annual Snow Polo World Cup, pristine alpine skiing, high-end shopping and fine dining. Every year crowds flock to St. Moritz to enjoy one of the best winter retreats in the world.
There are a number of five-star hotels and luxury accommodations for travelers to choose from. But one of our top picks from last season is the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski! We stayed 3 nights during our trip to St. Mortiz and got to experience all the Kempinski had to offer.
Location
The Kempinski St. Moritz is perfectly situated for every aspect of your trip. If arriving to St. Moritz by train, the hotel is just a short 5-minute drive. Email the hotel ahead of arrival and they can arrange to have their car pick you up at the station.
For anyone looking to maximize time on the mountain, the Kempinski is a great choice. The hotel is just steps from the Signalbahn cable car and is right across the road from the Hahnensee descent. The immediate lift access is typically one of our non-negotiables when booking a ski trip and Kempinski delivered!
Located just a short drive from the downtown area, Kempinski allows guests to feel like they are at a secluded retreat while still offering convenient access to shops, restaurants, and nightlife. The hotel has a shuttle that runs throughout the day bringing guests to and from the town center.
Accommodations and Amenities

First built in 1864 the Kempinski emotes an old-world charm and grandeur that you just don’t find in hotels built today. But they don’t sacrifice on any of the modern amenities travelers need and want.
The hotel offers a range of accommodations, from intimate guest rooms, perfect for a romantic couple’s getaway, to larger multi-room suites for families and large groups. Accommodations have been elegantly designed with classic alpine elements throughout. As functional as they are beautiful, there are thoughtful features like heated hard wood floors to keep even your toes warm after a long day on the mountain.
The Kempinski has an impressive spa and wellness center. The largest in St. Moritz at 2,800sqm. The space offers multiple saunas, indoor and outdoor pools, fully equipped fitness facilities, they even offer cryotherapy.

For skiers there is an exclusive Hotel Ski Pass, available to all guests. This pass gives you unlimited access to all mountain railways during regular operating hours, including the scenic evening rides at Muottas Muragl. The Kempinski Sports Shop is on site to help you with any and all gear needs you have during your stay. If you’re a beginner or just want to step up your game, the Kempinski partners with the Alpine Sports Ski School to book lessons customized to your goals and skill level.
The concierge and helpful team are available to help guests with anything they need throughout their stay. They can help customize your stay to provide unique experiences that are sure to make your stay memorable.
Drink and Dining
Dining and evening entertainment at the Grand Hotel Des Bains are as much a reason to stay as the ski slopes or spa. On-site there are several restaurants and bars, each with its own character and appeal.
Grand Restaurant Les Saisons, was our go-to spot for breakfast each morning. They offer an extensive award-winning breakfast buffet each morning, as well as a la carte options. It was perfect for fueling up before a day on the slopes.
For après, drinks in the Beluga Igloo is a must. Re-opening for the season in December, the three-dome Beluga Igloo is located on the hotel’s snow-draped park. This unique outdoor bar experience seamlessly blends alpine charm with modern sophistication.

And no stay at the Kempinski St. Moritz would be complete without a visit to BILLIONAIRE. One of the best nightlife experiences in St. Moritz, this goes beyond your standard dinner and a show. Guests will see worldclass vocalists, dancers, and acrobats, enhanced by innovative laser effects, all while enjoying an indulgent dinner. After the show BILLIONAIRE transforms into a vibrant nightclub with renowned DJs, promising an evening of sophisticated hedonism.
New to Kempinski St. Moritz for the 2025-2026 Season
There are several exciting changes coming to the Kempinski this season. Last year during our stay we got the chance to order off the pop-up menu “Crazy Pizza”, a concept created by the team behind Ristorante Da Adriano. Everything we ordered off the Crazy Pizza menu was mouthwatering. After overwhelming positive feedback, Crazy Pizza will permanently replace Da Adriano for the 2025-2026 season. Crazy Pizza features unique reimagined classic Italian pizza. We’re excited to see how Crazy Pizza evolves into a permanent fixture at Kempinski!
Then completely new for the 2025-2026 season, Kempinski is replacing Cà d’Oro Restaurant with St. Moritz’s first modern Greek restaurant, NEORA. The highly anticipated restaurant is set to open in December 2025 and will offer guests an immersive, sensory enriching dining experience. Rooted in authentic Greek hospitality, the menu aims to reimagine traditional dishes with a new cosmopolitan flair.
We were sad to leave the Kempinski at the end of our stay in St. Moritz. If you’re looking to experience all the glitz and glamour of St. Moritz while taking advantage of the world class slopes, Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski is a must stay!
