St. Moritz, a small town in Switzerland’s Engadin Valley, earned its reputation as a glamorous ski destination through a rich blend of history and innovation. It was here that modern winter tourism was born in the late 19th century when Johannes Badrutt invited guests to experience the region’s snowy allure. Over time, St. Moritz became synonymous with luxury. Hosting two Winter Olympics and attracting elite travelers with its world-class slopes, chic après-ski culture, and five-star hotels. Today it is home to one of my all time favorite hotels–Suvretta House. If you’re planning a trip to St. Moritz this winter, keep reading to find out why we love Suvretta House.
Staying at Suvretta House
Nestled in the snow-dusted splendor of St. Moritz, Suvretta House is more than a hotel—it’s a timeless gateway to luxury and adventure. Having stayed here twice, I can confidently say this iconic property embodies the magic of winter, blending unparalleled service with one-of-a-kind amenities. The 171 rooms and 10 suites embody alpine luxury, with Junior Suites offering sweeping views of the Engadin mountains.

Its distinction as the only true ski-in, ski-out hotel in St. Moritz stems from its private lift to Corviglia (the main ski area in St. Moritz), giving guests seamless access to some of the world’s best slopes. Guests can find an in-house rental shop and RFID lockers in the ski room. After long days on the mountain guests can kick off their gear in the cozy yet elegant ski room. Then guests can get back to indulging in all the luxurious amenities offered by this 5-star hotel.
Dining and Après
Dining at Suvretta House is a highlight in itself. Breakfast is a glam affair and you will be excited to get up and enjoy the stunning buffet each morning. For lunch, visit the on-mountain restaurant, Trutz, enjoy delectable meals with breathtaking views. For a fine dining dinner experience, Chasellas will bring you on a journey of regional flavors with the chef’s tasting. Then don’t miss the Grand Restaurant’s black-tie dinners, where tradition meets fine dining in unforgettable ways. Yes each night you are technically supposed to dress in black tie, but most guests just wear nice dresses and suits.

Each of my stays felt like stepping into a curated winter fairy tale. The team at Suvretta house ensures that every guest feels at home. I remember sipping hot chocolate by the roaring fire after a long day skiing, marveling at the glowing peaks.
Whether you’re drawn by the convenience of its ski-in, ski-out access, the charm of its curling rink, or the amazing culinary options, Suvretta House offers an experience that will have you dreaming of returning the moment you have left!
